I am a Registered Board Certified Art Therapist, Licensed Associate Counselor and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts from Kean University and my Master’s in Counseling Psychology with Art Therapy Specialization from Caldwell University. My 8 years cumulative experience has included working with children, adolescents and adults who have presented a variety of emotional and behavioral health concerns in both inpatient crisis and intensive outpatient settings. My approach to treatment derives from my own experiences as an adolescent and the activities that helped me cope with stress and family problems. Activities such as drawing, sketching, painting and writing poetry provided outlets for expressing myself and helped me manage stress and adolescent angst. My active role practicing in a range of therapeutic environments has afforded me a rich level of knowledge and success. I have demonstrated my ability to work as part of a team, consult with staff and assist families in solving problems or creating alternatives, as well as contributing in the implementation of therapeutic programs. I have successfully facilitated numerous Art Therapy groups dealing with topics such as Social Skills, Anger Management, Depression, Anxiety, Substance Abuse, Body Image, Cultural Sensitivity and co-wrote a Young Women’s Trauma Narrative group.
